I had to live with my aunt & aunt for a Summer beyond my choice, as they were the only people within an hour of my school who had space for me without paying rent.
I tried to avail myself in whatever ways possible, however I was young at the time & wanted to spend my free time with my friends.
It was fun making all of these plans for the future that have apparently not panned out. The people I was with and I would take long walks out to the fishing pier at evening while seeing the lights of distant yachts flicker on the horizon. Everything seemed much more easy back then, however the reality was that my family was going through a lot of tumultuous change. Because my father lost his contractor while I was in the 2008 financial recession, he had to take my mother & I back to our apartment state to live with my Grandparents. That Summer my aunt & aunt agreed to let me stay at their house until I resumed college at the end of June. I was relieved to have a place to stay which was also near all of my friends at the time, however I should have done more to help my aunt & aunt around the house. Instead I focused my energy on being upset by the exhausting air conditioning. It was an old house & wasn’t properly sealed for usual air conditioning unit use. The chilly air would escape outside as soon as the air conditioning unit would get the house feeling cool again. I l received to use the ceiling fan in my living room to get the air moving when the air conditioning unit wasn’t pushing it through the vents fast enough.
