Cooling solution for a rental house

I was going to have to rely on the internet to guide me because the child who worked at the big-box store had no clue.

While finishing up our senior year at College I knew I did not want to live in the dorms any longer. I entirely needed to be able to read and that lifestyle is just not conducive to that. I needed a space that was all our own, and looking in the paper there were sites renting out a single room to college students. Many of these sites were listed as room and board so I would have our own living room however share the living room space with the people who own the house. This was a perfect solution for me and when I went to check out the 1 closest to campus it seemed love a fantastic fit. The only problem that I could see was the fact that the room was situated on the third floor of an outdated Victorian home and there was no a/c in that space. I asked the owner if I would be able to purchase and use a small portable cooling system to make the space more comfortable. He said they did not have a problem with it as long as I kicked in an extra $10 on the energy bill each week to compensate for its use. This was a great deal and I went to the store to purchase the portable component instantaneously. I was going to have to rely on the internet to guide me because the child who worked at the big-box store had no clue. I found a website where I could put in the dimensions of the room and it would recommendedthe size cooling component I would need. The room that I am renting is only about 10 X 10 and the directions said that I would need no more than a 5000 BTU unit. Everything I read said that this would be adequate to keep a space that size cool and comfortable throughout the Summer and it would be energy-efficient.
