When my sister and I were in our teens our parents decided to get a divorce.
They were fighting for a long time before they made the choice to split.
My sister plus I still remember lots of afternoons when they would argue and fight until the odd hours of the night. My sister plus I missed a lot of afternoons of school, this was because my parents fought too late. My sister and I were upset when they got a divorce, but our life got much better. One of the worst parts though was deciding where to live. I remember from the divorce was having to choose a parent. The divorce lawyer sat us down in a small room to chat with us. The table was made of marble plus the chairs seemed big and heavy. My sister and I were scared, plus the divorce lawyer entirely didn’t make us feel much better. My sister wanted to live with our dad, although I wanted to live with our mom. After weeks plus weeks of litigation, the divorce lawyer set us down in a room plus told us that our mom won us. I remember those words that the divorce lawyer said plus they still go around in my head to this day. I’m sure my parents never felt that way, however the lawyer could have chosen better words to speak to teenage girls. It really messes a kid up thinking a certain parent won while the other lost. I mean poor dad right?
