I understand that we can’t do anything about the weather.
I don’t even complain when we lose our power because of the winds and the storms. I know that I chose to live in a heavily wooded area, and trees come down. We have a generator to make sure we have heating and air conditioning when it is needed. I also have my emergency lighting and my well pump doesn’t quit working. What I don’t understand is when I lose my power due to a mistake on the part of the electric company. They know that there is certain maintenance that needs to be done to keep the power on, and yet, they don’t do it. I came home from vacation recently and found out that I hadn’t had power for three days. I understood what happened because of a powerful tropical storm that blew in. I didn’t want any excuses when the sun was shining bright a week later, and I didn’t have power for two days. I was away on business last week, and when I came home I didn’t have any electricity. The power surge that happened when the transformer blew, blew the fuses that allowed my generator to start up. Now, I didn’t have any heating or air conditioning, and my well pump blew out. I’m not sure who I need to contact to get the well pump fixed, but I know that I will be calling my homeowners insurance company and possibly trying to get the electric company to help pay for damage to my well pump and the HVAC.
