Freon legal issues mean savings on ACs for me

It’s always a strange position to be in when you begin to benefit from somebody else’s hardships.

This is something that we all go through throughout our lives, as we watch some members of society fall and fail to get back up and we manage to keep plugging ahead at a steady state. Unfortunately, this has been happening a lot during the course of the pandemic. Recently, it also has been a major component of the heating, cooling, and air quality control industry. Those of us who can afford high quality central temperature control systems are easily able to keep our homes heated and cooled to the ideal temperature range. We never have to worry about our indoor air quality or exposure to the elements because we have reliable central heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment. So few of us ever stop to think about the people who cannot afford upgrades on their indoor air handling control devices. For instance, the families who cannot afford to have central heating or cooling in their houses. Recently, this has become a bigger issue as Freon has become an illegal substance. So many of the local households were operating old school air conditioning systems that required Freon as the cooling refrigerant. This year, when they found out that Freon was now illegal and recharging their air conditioning unit was impossible, I know a lot of folks who lost out on their cooling systems. I wish I could say that there was a good solution for these poor souls with broken HVAC systems… but, honestly, I’m glad that I can benefit off buying up their useless indoor air quality control equipment at my scrapyard.
