I can honestly tell you that I am terrified of the idea of aging. It’s not that I am worried about getting wrinkles or becoming less active. I honestly think that I will fare pretty well when it comes to the physical demands of getting older. However, I worry a lot about my mental fortitude as I begin to age. I think a big part of this comes from watching my grandma deteriorate over the past decade. She definitely is not as mentally aware as she once was. Besides that, she is baffled by all of this newfangled technology that she is not prepared to utilize. This is why I have to go to her house several times a week to help with her heating, cooling, and air quality control system. If you have not bought a new air handling device in the past few years, such as an air conditioner or forced air furnace, you probably have no idea how difficult all of this high-tech equipment has become. Don’t get me wrong, I know that these indoor air temperature control systems are more energy efficient and eco-friendly than ever before… But actually using the temperature control systems is not so simple. In fact, some of them require you to have a smart thermostat in order to utilize me HVAC equipment. This is why I’m constantly going to my grandmother’s house. She cannot figure out her high-tech smart thermostat device and therefore she cannot change the indoor air temperature. Every time she gets uncomfortable, I head over to her residence so I can spin the dial on her fancy smart temperature control device. She seems blown away every time. I really do not want to get old.
