I hope getting more insulation will keep those awful raccoons out of my attic

I have this love-hate kind of relationship with the wildlife that live on my property.

I love all of the birds, rabbits, squirrels, even the chipmunks and groundhogs that meander throughout my backyard at random points while in the midday. It’s so nice knowing that I can look outside my family room window at any time while in the midday plus witness all sorts of wildlife in the backyard. When I put up parakeet feeders a few meters from the window, my view got even better. I see cardinals, purple jays, gold finches, plus some grackles just to name a few. Occasionally I’ll even see an owl or a hawk out hunting for meals. But as much as I love all of these creatures, I have had constant issues with raccoons. They’re far worse than squirrels when it comes to emptying my parakeet feeders. Recently I found a whole bunch of them in my attic as the temperatures outside have been cooling down as both of us move into Wintertime. The heat from my central oil furnace radiates out of the air duct in the attic. I think that the attic was much more poorly sealed than I even realized, since a whole family of them were up there. After the creature control took the raccoons from my attic, I called an Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C specialist to have my attic totally insulated. Not only will it keep out unwanted rodents plus other wildlife, it will also prevent any heat from escaping outdoors while in the Wintertime season. I’m hoping that it will reduce my energy costs which are already high as they stand. And if I don’t ever have to worry about finding raccoons up there again, then it’s worth the cost.
