I am entirely blessed to have such a great family.
All through my life my parents have been completely supportive of me. They would always say things like you can do anything you put your mind to. I wasn’t so sure about that when I was younger because I felt like I didn’t have any real skills, but I learned they were basically right. I thought it would be great to be a scientist or something cool like that when I was young, but science wasn’t one of my best subjects. It took me a long while to figure things out just like anybody else, but I kept working hard in school. I actually did so well in school that I got a scholarship. The thing is, I ended up becoming interested in heating and cooling technology. This was actually because we had an HVAC technician come to our school on career day one time. Out of all the professionals that came to speak to the students, I was most impressed by the HVAC technician. I wasn’t the only one either, it seemed that everybody was interested in this guy. He was telling us all about new technology like smart thermostats, radiant heated floors, and geothermal HVAC systems. He was regularly telling jokes and had the whole room laughing. What a great personality. Out of everything, I wanted to do what he was doing and learned that I had to attend a trade school to get my HVAC certification. So that’s what I ended up doing instead of using my scholarship. While my parents seemed disappointed that I was throwing away the scholarship, I was happy because I was getting into a career that I actually loved. At the end of the day I feel I made the best decision.
