I need an ice bath

I could really benefit from an ice bath today, as I am in the process of recovering from an ankle injury.

Usually when my muscles are sore, I jump into the ocean to cool off my body. However, it is the hottest month of the year, so the water is not really cold enough to substitute an ice bath. I called up a friend of mine who works as a physical therapist. I explained to her that I twisted my ankle when I was carrying heavy HVAC equipment up a rickety staircase in my job as a heating and cooling technician. I became an HVAC technician to follow in my father’s footsteps, as he had taught me many things about heating and cooling as a child. My physical therapist friend told me she would bring over the cold laser to accelerate the healing process, but that won’t be until tomorrow afternoon. I am so injury prone that I have started to learn how to care for these injuries on my own. In fact, I think I should enter the physical therapy workforce with all the experience I’ve gained in treating my injuries. I like to cycle heating and cooling when dealing with an injury. If I had them handy, I would alternate between an ice pack and a heating pad. However, I will have to settle for some frozen fish in plastic followed by a hot wet towel. I turned up the thermostat on our hot water gas furnace so I can make the towel hot after I ice my ankle. I need to put it in a double plastic basket so it doesn’t burn the skin. I guess I will run to the store and grab some anti-inflammatories to help with the pain.
