It’s hard to figure out how to fix an oil heater sometimes

I work as an HVAC technician and it’s something I have been doing for almost 10 years.

I love being an HVAC technician and the only thing that I don’t love is when I can’t figure out how to work something. The one thing that I haven’t been able to figure out very well in the past is how to get an oil heater to work. I don’t know why but for some reason I can’t deal with oil heaters. I am working down south so it’s much more common that I deal with AC units, but I still feel like I should be well versed in all types of HVAC equipment. My boss that owns the HVAC company I work for has also said that he sometimes has a hard time with oil heaters and things like that. I feel better that I am not the only HVAC technician that has problems with oil heaters. If you are someone that ones and oil heater you should really consider learning how to fix your own HVAC unit! Not just because I don’t want to, but because it seems like it is a much better idea to fix your own then to call an HVAC technician. I usually charge a premium when people want an oil heater repaired because I much prefer to work on AC units. I have probably worked on over 3000 AC units and the number of oil heaters I have worked on is probably 10. I just don’t have much experience and there are different HVAC parts that go into an oil heater. In school they didn’t even talk about oil heaters, everything was much newer and we really focused on the AC unit.
