Less of a hassle

It would cut back on forty minutes before she was due to return back home from work.

My twin sister has a smart thermostat in her home, When she had it installed a couple of years ago, it was all she could talk about. She was so happy to be saving energy and heating and cooling her house more efficiently. At the time, I ignored her. However, last weekend, she asked if I would stay at her apartment while she was away. As her twin sister, I obliged. After a few minutes of lounging around, I realized how cold it felt inside. So, I found the nearest air vent, but didn’t feel any warm air coming out of it. I assumed that the thermostat was off, so I went to find it. Normally I wouldn’t change the temperature control settings in someone else’s home, but this was my twin sister and I knew that she wanted me to be comfortable. When I found the thermostat,, I tried to raise the temperature, but it wouldn’t let me. Her smart temperature control was locked! I texted her and asked if she could unlock the temperature control so I wouldn’t freeze, and, instead of unlocking it, she turned the furnace on. Apparently, her smart thermostat was programmed to shut off her new furnace when she wasn’t home. It would cut back on forty minutes before she was due to return back home from work. In this way, she wasn’t heating an empty house. The concept sounded intriguing, although I actually didn’t like the hassle of having to alter the temperature through a phone. I wish I could’ve just turned the heater on myself, rather than asking permission like a little kid.
