My neighbor called me the other day and told me that my lights were turning on and off. He knew I wasn’t home, and he kept an eye on my home when I wasn’t there. I had to tell him about my home automation system that I had installed. Once the programming was complete, the home automation system took over. At certain times of the day, lights would turn on in different parts of the house. The porch light would come on at dusk and turn off right before bed time. There was always a light on somewhere in the house to make it appear like the house is occupied. I could believe how convenient this was and how much money it was saving me on the energy bills. I could have the security of lighting without having the HVAC system running. There was just enough heating and air conditioning to keep the home from damage. I could go onto my smartphone and manually adjust the thermostat when it was time for me to come home so that I would come into the house to a comfortable temperature. I still think my favorite part of the home automation system is when I am home. I get up in the morning and my lights are on and I have coffee brewing in the coffee pot and I don’t even need to touch it. The HVAC continues to run as usual, my grass gets water and my swimming pool filter is cleaning the pool. Life is simpler with my home automation system.
