I guess that I never really realized how much parents do for their kids until I left home. I can still remember the first year out on my own as if it were yesterday. But it’s been years! It was as if I got hit by a tornado of responsibility… My parents did a wonderful job of raising me, but for some reason, I was still shocked by how many things I had to keep track of. And worse, how many bills I had to pay! But I have realized that the sacrifices of a parent are like nothing else. My mom is just amazing, and although I have been out of the house for years, she is still consistently there to help me if I ever need it. The oil furnace in our house is not doing so good, and I’ve noticed that it has shut off more often than it should. It’s having trouble keeping the house at the right temperature. I know that my mom can fix just about anything on an oil furnace because I can remember going to many family member’s homes when I was a kid just so my mom could service their oil furnaces. My uncle was told by an HVAC technician once that he needed to purchase a brand new oil furnace, however, he did not have enough money to do so at the time. And so my mom went over to his house to see if she could fix it. And in a couple of hours, she had the oil furnace running again, and it still runs wonderfully to this day – which is about 10 years later. I will call my mom in the morning because I know she will be able to repair our oil furnace. I have been so blessed with supportive parents!
