Isn’t it sad how the older you get, the more boring your presents are from your parents? When I was younger, I can remember all the amazing gifts I received. One year I got a new bike, the next it was a new playset, and then I also got a new gameboy the following year. I have a hard time remembering what my parents have gifted me in recent years, because the gifts are so mundane. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still grateful for any gifts my parents bless me with, but it went from fun things that I wanted to things that I needed. For instance, if I remember correctly, I think they gave me new socks and underwear last year. This year, I prepared myself for another gift of something I needed and not so much anything I wanted. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I unwrapped a smart thermostat. I’d read about them online and knew my parents had one installed into their house as well. I really loved that I could connect my thermostat to my cell phone and program the temperature settings whenever and wherever I wanted. I also liked how a smart thermostat let me see how efficient my HVAC system was running, and it could alarm me of any concerns. I’d thought about purchasing the new thermostat myself, but knew the upfront cost was high. This was a really thoughtful gift from my parents! I’m excited to install my new smart thermostat and play around with all the new features!
