My sister Diane is the only female HVAC technician that I know

Now, Diane has been working at one of our local heating and cooling companies for the past couple of years, and she really loves her job

Back when my sister Diane told us that she was going to go to school to get her HVAC certification, I had never even heard of a female HVAC technician before. I thought she sounded a little bit crazy, because all of the women in our family had been hairdressers and cosmetologists. No one had ever even heard of a woman being a heating and cooling professional! But Diane has always been someone who marched to the beat of her own drum, and she always knew that she wasn’t going to go into the family business of hairstyling, even back when she was a little girl. She said that when we were kids, she was way more interested in our grandpa and how he used to work on the furnace in the basement in the winter than she was at what our grandma was doing in the salon. It makes me laugh now that she mentions it, because I do remember her following our grandpa around the basement with a flashlight and a screwdriver when we were kids. She always wanted to help him fix our furnace that was always tearing up back then. Now, Diane has been working at one of our local heating and cooling companies for the past couple of years, and she really loves her job. She’s great at finding and diagnosing problems, and I think that one day she might even end up opening up her own HVAC company. Our whole family is pretty proud of her, even though it was really weird when she first told us about her HVAC dreams.
