New jump rope system increases skills

I’ve liked to jump rope since I was a little girl.

As an adult I’ve incorporated jump roping into my daily workout program.

For quite a few years, I used a leather rope with weighted handles, and it worked fairly well for me. However, I found that the leather ropes tend to tangle and wear out fairly quickly. There was no opportunity to adjust the length. This past year, for Mother’s Day, my son gave me a brand new set of jump ropes. This system is absolutely amazing and completely different from anything I’ve ever tried. The ropes are designed to match my specific height, so the length is perfect. They are created out of some type of synthetic material that is much more durable. Rather than weighted handles, this system uses a variety of weighted ropes. I have one set of handles and I can switch between the various ropes. I have a quarter-pound, half-pound, one-pound and two-pound rope that each provide a very different style of workout. The heavier ropes travel much slower and require more exertion from the arms and shoulders. The lighter ropes allow much quicker jumps and increase the level of cardio. The handles attach to the ropes with a metal clasp that is easy and quick to operate. The smoothness of the rotation has increased my speed and ability. I’ve accomplished more difficult skills such as crossovers and double-unders. I was able to download a free app onto my phone that provides a variety of guided workouts. I can choose between beginner or advanced sessions and I’m able to track my workouts and calories burned.
