For the longest time I could not figure out what was going on in my house.

Frankly I just couldn’t get a handle on where all of my high-quality treated air was going. We don’t have any kind of special HVAC system or anything like that, but it seemed like we weren’t able to keep the house at the right temperature. Specifically, there was one room that never seemed like it was reaching the set temperature point. No matter what I told the thermostat to do, this room seems like it had a life of its own. That means in the middle of winter it was freezing cold in there and there were drafts coming from every direction. In the summer, on the other hand, it was absolutely hot and stagnant like you were standing in the middle of a Florida subdivision. No matter what I did it felt like this room decided to have its own temperature preferences. I tried everything I could as far as insulating the room. I even got those cool solar panel drapes to block out some of the sun and hopefully trap some of the air inside of the room. But it made absolutely no difference. Every day it was the same hot and cold story. Several months went by before we finally got our act together and figured out what the issue was. I called the local HVAC company to have them do a full duct cleaning throughout our home, and that’s when the trouble began. They got inside the walls and immediately saw something strange. The air duct abruptly ended in one direction. All this time I was running the thermostat trying to get cool air into our one random room, and it never had ductwork leading to it.
