I recently remodeled the master bedroom in my house.

I finally replaced the old windows that wouldn’t open yet leaked air.

I got rid of the very ugly overhead light fixture and installed a ceiling fan to help with heating and cooling. I took down the rusted old HVAC supply and return vents covers and bought new. I was very surprised at how many styles of vent covers are available now. I was able to find a decorative option that looks so much nicer yet still allows me to direct airflow. I also pulled up the old, stained carpet and found hardwood flooring underneath. Sanding down and varnishing the floors was labor-intensive and time-consuming but definitely worth it. They turned out just beautiful. One of the most labor-intensive parts of the job was scraping the popcorn texture off the ceiling. I first started with a wide metal scraper, which worked quite well but created a lot of debris. I then decided that the ceiling wasn’t quite as smooth as I’d hoped. I took an electric palm sander and went over the entire ceiling with a fine grade sandpaper. This endeavor created huge amounts of dust. I did my best to seal off the bedroom from the rest of the house, but the dust got everywhere. I ended up needing to launder every garment in my closet and lean every room. When I finally finished painting and setting up my furniture, I noticed that the air conditioner wasn’t acting right. I immediately knew that all of that dust and debris had gotten sucked up into the ductwork. I called a local HVAC company for air conditioner service and ductwork cleaning. When the technician completed the job, he said he’d never seen such a huge buildup of dirt and contaminants inside a duct system.
