Rethinking my air quality priorities

The pandemic really made me rethink a lot of things I had taken for granted.

Did this happen to you, at all? At first I was bummed about all the creature comforts I had lost, like pizza.

I could no longer have a pizza delivered anytime I wanted. A few months later, it was a deeper level of being bummed when I learned the pizza place I loved would never re-open for business. Having clean bottled water whenever I wanted it was something else I took for granted, and now it is harder to acquire. My indoor air quality, the air that I spend all day breathing, was something else I never fully appreciated. With an airborne virus in the mix, air filters, and clean ventilation systems, instantly became a priority when they never had been before. Thankfully things like air filters are very easy to order online, so I went ahead and ordered a whole case of them, just in case. No matter what happens, I am set on air filters for the next two years, give or take. Next up, I found some tutorial videos on Youtube about cleaning ductwork and air vents by yourself. This is traditionally the sort of thing I would hire an HVAC company to do for me, but now I’d rather not have outsiders come into my home. When it comes to replacing equipment, or tuning up the HVAC components, I will of course rely on the professionals. But for cleaning ductwork and changing air filters, I need to handle it all myself.
