The HVAC heat pump is in a class of its own

And all it has to do to heat the house is to reverse the process

Most of my life was spent knowing only one thing about the HVAC. That was how to turn it down to cool the house off a bit more. To my parent’s chagrin, this was something that they really didn’t appreciate. I had no idea, nor did I care what the cost were for HVAC cooling. And, I didn’t have any real appreciation for just how remarkable it was that we had HVAC cooling at all. Perhaps that goes with the territory when you’re a bit of stupid, selfish kid. However, once I got my first apartment, I had a much different perspective on heating & cooling. That was mainly because I was paying for it and the HVAC in the apartment I lived in wasn’t all that good. So when I got my first home, I was eager to learn what I could about the HVAC and just how it works. Staying in the same region that I grew up in, my home is heated and cooled by an HVAC heat pump. This is standard practice in our region. The winters are mild and the summer is a scorcher. The heat pump takes great care of a house no matter what the season. Yet, the heat pump is made for the heat. It’s able to remove heat energy from the house and exhaust it outside so it can be replaced by cooler air. But the heat pump is also balancing the humidity levels in the house at the same time. And all it has to do to heat the house is to reverse the process. It really is quite a remarkable invention.
