Our friend asked us to keep an eye on her home while she went on a trip! We collected the mail plus everything was good for the first few afternoons.
However, one day, we went to check on her home and we noticed that someone had broken into it. The window AC unit on the ground floor had been detached and someone had gotten into her home. We couldn’t tell what was missing from her things, and we felt absolutely poor when we had to phone her and tell her what took place. She decided to cut her trip short so she could come back and talk to the police, while taking inventory of her items. Some electronics were stolen, along with a few other things as well. My partner offered to help her install a ductless mini heater and AC system so that this wouldn’t happen again. The ductless mini system doesn’t have an open window that a thief could potentially climb through. However it’s a lot like a window unit, with the compressor outside and there are thin hoses that direct the air inside the home through the walls. Our friend took my partner up on their offer and she also had her window replaced with a better locking window. We’re so ecstatic that she’s not mad at us over what happened, since it absolutely wasn’t our fault. We’re absolutely ecstatic that she’s letting us install the ductless mini system, so her house will be a lot safer. Maybe she can resume her trip when this is all said and done.
