I can admit that my family is extremely difficult to deal with. I know that I am no different. We are all extremely stubborn and opinionated human beings. When you put that many bull-headed people in one room together, disaster is fairly imminent. This is what I’ve been trying to remember as I gear up for a long year of dealing with my family. Normally, I keep my distance from everybody as much as possible because I do not appreciate the drama. This year, it looks like we are going to be spending a lot of time together fixing up our old family vacation home. One of the first things that we need to take care of is the indoor air handling device that is supposed to serve the entire family cabin. There is a central heating, cooling, and ventilation system installed on the property that has been there for over 50 years. As you can imagine, the boiler system and air conditioning units could use some upgrades before they will be working at modern efficiencies. We probably need to replace the air handling devices entirely, if not pay for many expensive repair services from a local heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership. These HVAC concerns, alone, have been creating a lot of drama in the family. Everyone has a different opinion when it comes to energy efficient heating, cooling, and air quality control systems. Beyond that, I know we need to install a brand-new thermostat to control the indoor air handling devices. It makes no sense to keep using a rudimentary dial thermostat when we are going to have modern HVAC devices. If I could just convince my family that a smart thermostat was worth it, I would feel a lot cooler about this entire family project.
