I grew up in a time before the internet, without a movie theater for miles around, so my friends and I got our kicks through books and comics.
It was a different time, back then, and we all thought we would grow up to be detectives or soldiers or something crazy like that.
We always went out exploring the woods looking for excitement, but never found any, aside from some wild horses every once in a while. But one time we found something genuinely mysterious — a detached semi trailer hidden in the woods, and filled with dozens of air conditioners. Once we worked up the nerve to go inside, we counted eighty eight air conditioners, all still sealed in their boxes. There was no truck to move the trailer, mind you, which told us that someone had probably stolen the air conditioners on accident, and just wanted the truck itself. That theory got blown out of the water once we opened up a few of the boxes and checked out the A/C units. One of the air conditioners had been cracked open down the back, hollowed out, and stuffed with bricks of drugs. We did not bother to look at any of the other A/C units, we just wiped our prints off the drugs and got out of there immediately! I really would have liked to take one of those air conditioners home with me, I could have used it! But a free air conditioner was not worth crossing paths with dangerous criminals. Two days later, the trailer was gone.
