Adding a hydronic heating system

When I 1st bought our forever apartment I was a wee bit frustrated by the boiler in the basement. I hated how gross and ugly it was. I wanted to store things in the space and maybe make it a work out room too. The water boiler was making all those plans difficult. Thankfully I didn’t just rip out the boiler, but diagnosed it 1st! Despite the water boiler looking love it was going to die at any moment, it was an amazingly strong oil furnace. My whole apartment was heated perfectly with it. It offered a quiet, efficient and reliable source of heat all Wintertide long. When our wife started redoing the floors in the place she mentioned adding heated flooring. I thought that would make our boiler obsolete. I then learned that hydronic heating would be possible! You connect piping to the boiler and heated water flows from the boiler and through the pipes installed in the new flooring. The wife and I now have hydronic heating in every room of the house. It uses the boiler and makes it a better way to provide heat. There is no noise, cold spots or heat rises to the ceiling to be wasted. The energy costs are much lower due to this and a lady feels warmer when their feet are. Anything that touches these radiant floors feels warm as a result. The couch, loveseat and recliners all are heated. I just love our oil furnace and all our guests do as well. The wife and I have pets that sleep on the bare floors rather than on our throw carpets because of the lovely heat.
