I’m the type of person who always wants to be there for my friends and family.
If you call me in the middle of the night and something is going wrong I will be up with you until dawn.
If your car breaks down on the side of the road I will spend my entire afternoon trying to get it up and running again. I really do my best to be a positive force for everybody that I know because I would hope for the same thing in return. As such, it’s no surprise that my family takes advantage of my kindness. Last week I was abruptly disturbed when my niece called me in a panic because her wedding was going to be conducted without any air conditioning. It was a hot and humid summer day with a heat index of over 100 degrees. My niece had arranged her wedding ceremony at a local church where they had a central cooling system that normally served the entire congregation. This day, of course, the AC unit was broken down. As the outdoor air temperature continued to increase the indoor air quality was becoming intolerable. It was so hot and humid indoors that people were leaving the church to stand outside. My niece was convinced that her entire wedding was about to be ruined if the AC unit didn’t get fixed. Of course, she called me so I could come take a look at the large air conditioning system with my mechanical mind. I promptly went to the church and after several sweaty hours I managed to get the air conditioning system up and running again. I must say, this HVAC errand was especially kind of me… Considering she didn’t invite me to the wedding in the first place.
