I’m so glad that my husband finally listened to reason.
It was getting to the point where he was being so pigheaded about keeping the lodge just the way his dad left it that he was the only one. I mean, we all get the fact that this place is special to him. But adding some residential HVAC would certainly not besmirch the memory of dad at all. In fact, my sister in law and I were in agreement in that. She and my husband inherited the property so it was just as much hers as it was his. I think she’s the one who finally got through to that man. The fact was that neither of our families or the rest of the extended family were using the lodge. It’s so beautiful out there but the lodge was a musty, cluttered and old place where nobody wanted to spend a night. Finally, we got through to my husband and suggested that we just start by cleaning it up, getting rid of furniture that was broken or unusable. When that went well, we painted and put in better beds and furnishings. The improvements made an obvious difference with my husband because it wasn’t long before he was talking about HVAC equipment. We met with a local HVAC company in town first. They showed us the ductless heat pump. I was stunned by just how powerful this form of HVAC method could be. The HVAC company put in 4 ductless heat pumps throughout the lodge. This has made such a tremendous difference in comfort just having some air conditioning in the summer.
