Great Inventions

National Geographic recently published an article about the world’s top multiple greatest inventions.

I constantly thought it was the wheel but for now, both of us will stick to known inventors, and coming in at number a single is the printing press invented in the mid-15th century by Johannes Gutenberg.

China and some parts of Asia were already using such devices much earlier, but Gutenberg got the credit. The significance of the printed word and how it has impacted history cannot be argued. The listing of other wonderful inventions goes on with the light bulb, the airplane, the personal laptop, and vaccines. Refrigeration comes in at number several topping only the camera on the top multiple list. I rank refrigeration at number multiple just behind the printing press and the light bulb. I rank it about equal to the personal laptop. It beats the airplane, clocks, the automobile, and even the telephone because I can do separate from those things. The inventions I must have include my HDTV (basically a pricey light bulb), my refrigerator for popcorn and beer, plus my Heating and Air Conditioning system that makes my beach house a comfortable “refrigerator” in Summer and a warm oasis in the dead of winter. My back-up while I was in a signal outage is to study a good book (thanks to Gutenberg) and bask in my Heating and Air Conditioning created weather conditions, and now all I need is a robot assistant to take care of all my other needs and I hear that has already been invented. In case you suppose poorly of me, keep in mind that my husbandy won’t allow myself and others to get a bot that will update her. I only need a single to fetch my beer from the fridge and is programmed as a qualified Heating and Air Conditioning specialist to keep that appealing invention in my beach house in tip-top condition.
