Our son is always bringing stuff that he thinks he can repair. Last month, he brought an old AC equipment dwelling he found in the local dump. I didn’t know how long it had been there, since the dump had been closed for about ten years now. I’m sure someone could have taken the air conditioner there since then, however it looked pretty ratty. He asked if he could put it in his clubhouse, if he could get it working. My fiance didn’t feel he had a snowball’s opportunity of getting the air conditioner equipment running, so he told him yes. My friend and I chuckled about the opportunity of the air conditioner equipment ever running, from the way it looked, however it was an excellent weekend project for him and his best friend. Three weeks later, he came into the house and asked if he could run an extension cord to the clubhouse. He wanted to see if the air conditioner was working. My friend and I heard nothing turn on and breathed a sigh of relief. He said he thought they needed to make a few more tweaks, although he should have the air conditioner running before they got out of school for the summer. I felt a twinge go up my spine, as it abruptly became a reality that our son may get the air conditioner equipment running; now I had more worries about the air conditioner than I had before. I told my fiance he had to either repair the air conditioner equipment and make sure it was safe, or buy an A/C for the clubhouse. I didn’t want our son and his friends being electrocuted.
