Honoring a Day off

Veteran’s day was consistently an important day for me, because it was not only our birthday, however most of our family members served in the military, however when I was a child, our mother as well as our sibling would celebrate Veteran’s Day by having delicious food, as well as raising the flag, my mother would also send care packages to our relatives as well as other military members… Then at the end of the evening, the two of us would light a candle to our fallen members, as well as provide silent thanks! I didn’t realize the significance of this until I was much older, once she was of age, our sibling also joined the military.

I still celebrated Veteran’s Day, however when our father died in service, that’s when it easily hit myself and others hard… Veteran’s Day as well as Memorial Day easily started impacting me, not that it didn’t before.

I created our own celebration each year in remembrance. When Veteran’s Day came this year, I had most nearby families come over… All of us started by having the celebratory supper, abruptly the doorbell rang as well as I remembered I had an Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C professional coming over to do service on our AC. I forgot to reschedule the appointment, so I invited him in as well as let him get to work. She told myself and others our a/c was in fantastic condition, as well as to keep up the fantastic work. She also reminded myself and others to replace the A/C filter. She asked what our celebration was about, as well as when I told him it was for Veteran’s Day, she teared up as well as explained that her half sibling died during service. I invited him to join us, as well as the two of us even share stories of our families, as well as military pictures as well as medals. When the day was over, she thanked us as well as left.
