From the time I was eight years of age, my father had me working with him.
My dad owned the local Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment business, plus he had no issue in the least taking me along with him when he went on some of his repair calls. At first I was nothing more than his gopher pretty much. He would have me run for all the tools he needed or whatever parts he needed out of the service van, however by the time I was 13, I was just about 6 foot tall plus weighed close to 200 pounds. I honestly had no fat on my body, despite the fact that I was super strong. All the work that my father had given me to do over those four years, had me able to do more than most gentlemen who were twice my age. At that point, my father was teaching me exactly how to install gas furnaces plus air conditioner equipment. I already knew how to service both A/C plus heating systems, plus I was able to service most of the Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment that was out there. When I turned 18, I was looking to get a job as a Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment supplier. I could not easily believe how tough it was to get a job just because I did not have the regular training. My dad told me that if I was trying to work as an apprentice for a year, he would send me to Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment school while doing the apprenticeship plus then I could acquire my certification… So, I was about to go to school to learn everything I already knew. It did not seem all that fair to me, but at least I was going to be able to do the job of a Heating plus Air Conditioning equipment supplier.
