It’s now come to me locking down the HVAC equipment

It’s just crazy

I don’t know. Maybe it’s time to sell and move even further out. When I came to this town, it was largely to get away from the worst of the city. Namely, I was sick of crowds, traffic and crime. But my job was located inside the commercial HVAC of a downtown building. That was well before working remotely became what it is now. So it was either keep living close inside the radiant heating of an apartment building or commute. I chose the commute. Back then, it was an hour each way but it was worth it. I was able to buy a house with great residential HVAC and no neighbors sharing walls or radiant heating. Plus, I felt a million times safer living here where I do. But twenty years brought a lot of changes as so many other people had the same idea that I did. Now, this place is a bedroom community and the town has at least tripled in size. Along with that growth came a big increase in criminal activity. The latest thing is ripping apart the HVAC equipment alongside a house just to get to the copper fittings. The rest of the expensive heating and cooling components are simply tossed aside like so much trash. It’s just crazy. I’ve even had to buy a cage that goes over the HVAC cabinet and then locks down to the concrete pad underneath. This seems extreme to me for sure but I’m not going to be the one who wakes up one morning to see the HVAC unit strewn across the lawn. Yea, maybe it is time to upgrade the HVAC unit and get the house on the market.
