Might need to take a look at the air vents

Working for the government has been an overall great experience, but it is a very slow moving branch.

Whenever there are problems in our building it seems like it takes months for anything to get fixed! A few weeks ago our thermostat stopped working and I brought it up to my manager.

He told me he would take a look, but that there wasn’t much in the budget for getting a new heating or cooling system if that was going to be needed. I waited a few days before saying anything again, but the temperature was starting to become unbearable. I knew I would have to take matters into my own hands. I got a ladder and checked on the air vents, I saw nothing in the way so I went to the AC unit itself. The AC unit sounded perfect, it was running smoothly but I didn’t feel any air in the building. I went online to HVAC forums and did a little bit of reading on HVAC repair. I learned that I might need to look at the ductwork and do some cleaning. I did just that and then went back to the AC unit. It sounded even better now, and I turned the thermostat a few degrees warmer as to not overwork the system. After about an hour I could feel the whole building cool down and I turned the thermostat back down to its normal temperature. My manager never noticed my HVAC work, but I didn’t care. As long as the AC unit stays running I think I will be okay. I told my wife about my handiwork and now she is reconsidering calling an HVAC provider for our AC needs!
