My brother is in the HVAC business.
- I could never wrap my head around what he does, but he absolutely loves it! He’s always been mechanically inclined in a family that most certainly wasn’t! Many of the things that he learned as a child were self-taught, and he was working on all manner of climate control devices by the age of 16! Unlike me, he knew the trade that he wanted to go into that early in life.
Later on, I figured out that I have quite the knack for both math and money management. Naturally, I became an accountant. So, me and my older brother have an unspoken deal of sorts. I am always there to help him with any accounting needs and financial advice for free. Also, he is always there for nearly any HVAC problem I ever have, fixing it more for the enjoyment of tackling the problem than for compensation. It’s a pretty good deal, huh? I like to think that we make out pretty evenly. My brother always does a bang-up job with my air conditioning and heating needs. If there’s ever anything wrong, he seems to have a keen, sixth sense when it comes to figuring it out. Being an accountant, it’s particularly enjoyable for me to calculate how much money I am saving thanks to my generous brother, and yes, it is quite a lot! Sometimes, I wish I was also born with the gift of knowing what in the world he was doing when he’s working on my climate control unit!
