My mom jumps rope for her workout

My mother is in her mid 50s.

  • She keeps herself in fantastic shape.

She is a true believer of jumping rope for cardio fitness. My mother started with a basic leather rope. She would use the rope for around 10 minutes at the start of her daily work out. She practiced to eliminate a pre jump in-between rotations of the rope. Then she began practicing criss-crosses with the rope, kicks and single foot jumps. My mother’s workouts have completely changed. She has a better quality jump rope that allows the rope to rotate more quickly and smoothly. She has several different weights of ropes and uses a jump rope app on her phone to keep her workouts interesting. She is now able to turn, run, hop and plus forth, complete double-unders and accomplish a whole combination of skills while jumping rope. It is an impressive sight to see. I thought jumping rope wasn’t all that hard. Although it took my mother months to build her skills and stamina, I am half her age. I am in peak physical shape and figured I would have no trouble. I found out that I am not good with a jump rope. I can’t jump for 5 minutes without feeling out of breath. I am only able to jump with feet together or alternating feet. I am not ready to attempt harder skills. I see that jumping rope is an amazing workout. Even after just four minutes, my heart is pounding like crazy. My butt, legs and arms are all fatigued. I don’t remember feeling that way when I was a little kid and jumped rope.
