Working from home is great, but it also has some challenges as well as some extra expenses. I love that I can be home when my kids get home from school. And I am glad that I have the flexibility of making them dinner in the evenings. And of course, my husband Mark loves that he comes home to a warm meal. When I worked in the office, it was difficult to come home after a 10-hour day and cook dinner. But now that I have no commute in my day, I use that time to prepare dinner for my family. One thing that I needed to get used to that I have noticed since I began working from home, is that my utility bill increased. And of course, it made sense because I was using more energy during the day. Not only was I cooking more, but I was also running the air conditioner all day long. My office is one of the warmest rooms in the house because it faces the sun directly. So, I would have to keep my central air conditioner at 70 degrees for my office to feel comfortable. Finally, after a few months of increased utility bills, my husband suggested that we install a Smart thermostat or purchase a portable air conditioner for my office. After researching both options, we decided to install the Smart thermostat. Based on what we found, it would save us money on our yearly energy bill, and it would also make the house more comfortable. Mark purchased the thermostat and installed it himself, and I must confirm that the Smart thermostat is one of the best gadgets we have in our home.
