Using an old shipping tote to help out creatures

I inherited some land from our dad, and it wasn’t a lot but it was worth moving for, and the home on the land was pretty small, and honestly old, and was more in need of damage than renovation, however still I moved out there, mostly for 1 important reason — our creatures… I am a sucker for strays, both cats and cats, and over the years have amassed quite the menagerie, then living in the city, cooped up in our small apartment, was not fantastic for them, and I suppose it wasn’t fantastic for myself and others either.

Living in the country is good for them, but they needed a sturdy shelter so I called our old neighbor from our custom welding nights, and for a few years I worked as a welder for a custom metal fabrication business, mostly making air duct and such.

I remember our neighbor leaving that job to get into working with prefab housing and shipping containers, so I gave him a call; She was so blissful to hear from myself and others she said if I paid the shipping on it, she would deliver myself and others a free cargo container. Since I still have all our old custom welding equipment, I could modify it although I wanted and turn it into an creature shelter. It took a while, because our custom welding skills were a bit rusty (forgive the pun) but now our creatures have a dry, warm, safe locale to sleep. Now that it’s all done, I believe I’ll order another cargo tote for myself and turn it into our brand new home.
