I could not truly believe how challenging it was to get a task just because I didn’t have the proper training.
From the moment I was eight years old, my father had me working with him… My father actually owned the local Heating and A/C company, as well as he had no complication taking me with him when he went on some of his calls. In the beginning, I was nothing more than his gopher. He would have me run for the tools he needed or whatever parts he needed out of the repair van. By the time I was 13, I was pretty close to being 6 foot tall as well as weighed roughly 200 pounds. I had no fat on my body, although I was totally strong. All the tasks that our father had given me to do over those several years, had me able to do more than most boys who were twice my age. At that point in time, my father was teaching me about installing gas furnaces as well as a/c units. I already knew how to repair both A/C as well as oil furnaces, as well as I was able to repair a good selection of the Heating and A/C systems that were out there. When I turned 18, I was hoping to get a task as a Heating and A/C appliance worker. I could not truly believe how challenging it was to get a task just because I didn’t have the proper training. My father easily told me that if I wanted to task as an apprentice for a year, he would send me to Heating and A/C college while doing the apprenticeship as well as then I could get my certification. So, I was about to go to school to learn everything that I already knew. It didn’t seem all that fair to me, however at least I was going to be able to do the task of a Heating and A/C appliance professional.
