Changing professions at 40 is an odd feeling, but we have just done it.
After decades working in automobile sales, we got fed up with it and wanted to pursue something more interesting.
We chose to return to school to get our certification to become heating & a/c experts. We did have an interest in heat & a/c since we were kids, however when getting out of school, we went the automobile sales route. Now, at 40, we opted to try the heating and a/c thing. We passed our course and ended up getting our Heating, Ventilation plus A/C certification. We now have jobs at a local heating & a/c contractor and love the new experience. We got to master heating & a/c repair fast. The theory part was pretty straight-forward to follow. It was just odd being the oldest folks in the class. It almost felt like a joke of sorts. But It all worked out for the best. We’re much happier here being heating & a/c experts and we like our new roles a lot better. We are also earning more than we did selling cars. You would know it would be the other way around, however it isn’t. HVAC servicing we guess is what has consistently been in our best interest and just didn’t realize it till half way through life at 40. Well, as they say, it is better late than never.
