Working out while traveling

I’m required to travel a lot for work. I sometimes feel as if I spend more nights sleeping in a bed than at home. When I first started making the various work trips, I’d get exhausted and sore. I suffered from digestive issues and headaches. I dealt with acne and weight gain. I realized that I wasn’t taking proper care of myself. When I’m at home, I’m careful about my nutrition and diligent about regular exercise. While traveling, I was eating at restaurants, drinking lots of coffee and not working out. I decided to be more proactive. I have joined a fitness center that is a national chain with locations all across the country. Whenever I have an upcoming work trip, I look for a nearby fitness center. I usually can find a location within an easy driving distance. My membership allows me to workout at any of the locations, at any time, day or night. Sometimes, the hotel includes a workout area. There’s typically little more than a treadmill, stationary bike and some free weights, but it’s enough to burn some calories and work up a sweat. I also pack a jump rope, resistance bands and a portable yoga mat in my suitcase. I can always find enough space to complete some type of beneficial workout. I prioritize a thorough stretch because my muscles tend to tighten up from the stress of travel. I also pack granola bars, apples, grapes, baby carrots, cut up celery and healthy snacks. Once I arrive at a location, I look for a grocery store where I can buy bottled water. By making an effort to eat properly and workout every day, I have improved my health and mood.
