Okay, I am sure that many of you will agree with myself and others when I say that older people can seem a bit nuts.
They not only tend to live in the past however some of the ideas that they come up with are entirely off the charts.
My Grandma is no different. I will never forget the time that she decided to use contact paper on the bathroom floor, however she was truly proud of herself when she told myself and others that she had installed new flooring in the bathroom. Well, when I went in to check it out I realized what she had done and I had to laugh. Sometimes, when you have to wait out the fact that their system is not the best it can be a bit awkward. This was the case when my hubby went to visit my Grandma and check on her 1 morning last summer, then when he arrived he found my Grandma is resting in the study room in her chair with her feet in a basket of ice water. He didn’t suppose that this was quite healthy for her so he called myself and others to ask what he should do. First thing I commanded him to do was ask her why she was resting like that and she stated that it was too hot in her apartment so she was trying to cool off. She recalled doing this when she was a child so she figured it would labor enjoyable now as well. The complication came when he tried to explain that it was dangerous for her circulation. I suggested that he go to the store and purchase a small personal cooling unit for her instead. So far she seems glad with it and I hope she does not use the basket of ice anymore.
