Camping requires some climate control

This place that I’m currently calling home, for at least every Summer, was my Mom’s favorite camping spot.

  • She loved this piece of land so much that she bought the spot.

It’s a 57 acre spot with the chalet right dead center on the property. Leaving the central air conditioner of our condo to go out there was like becoming a pioneer in my brain. And my brain seized on this for sure. Any time my Mom was willing to get up to that spot, I was ready to leave TV, hot water showers, and the air conditioner behind. It was strenuous going up at that spot when it was Winter. I’ve been a few times but just to get back there is still strenuous when the snow is deep. So, it’s mainly a Summer crib for me now that Mom has passed away. She had a lot of financial wealth which she passed on to the family, but it’s this spot of land that meant everything to me. I have sort of added on to the chalet with every trip, doing one thing here and finally finishing another project there. Finally, I was all set with the chalet itself. But we are so far out in the boonies that there is still no electrical grid connection. Thankfully, solar power technology has come so far that I’ve got all the electricity I need pretty much, and I even was able to put in a ductless heat pump. Now, my spouse will come out here with me for much of the time I’m out here each Summer. It can get hot and muggy, so the air conditioner does make it entirely comfortable to sleep. And the ductless heat pump fits in the back seat of my old truck!
