Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on a two month long trip and leave your house vacant? This is something that I did a few years back.
I was living on my own and did not have much in my house.
I wasn’t worried about anybody breaking in and I have good neighbors that were able to watch my house for me. When I got back from the trip I walked in and the first thing I noticed about my house was a musty smell. I figured it was just because I hadn’t turned on the AC in quite some time. Without the AC running, my house began to smell musty and old. I immediately open the window and let some fresh air circulate in my house. Sometimes it is a good idea to open the windows and let fresh air circulate throughout your house and not even worry about turning on the HVAC system. When I was away on this trip my energy bill was so low because I wasn’t using my AC or my heater for several weeks. It was almost 2 months that I was away and I didn’t even think about the AC or heating system ones.I prefer to open the windows over using the AC any day. Using the AC is nice when it is very hot outside, but in the region where I live it does not get that hot. We get a lot of rain in the region where I live, but that does not usually make me want to use the AC.
