I’d never missed going to the farm in Summer to visit our Grandparents.
It was a ritual I grew used to since I was a kid.
I’d have our parents drive myself and others there and spend the whole Summer with them helping out. After leaving for college, the visits weren’t as frequent, but I resumed after graduating. I was only two cities away. Last summer, I went to see them for a month as I always did. Grandma had called to inform myself and others they were having issues with the AC method at the house. I asked her if they’d talked to an AC worker about it, although she said no. She’d wait until I got6 there to do so. I arrived at the farm on a Tuesday afternoon and found them using a portable cooling system. It was quite effective, which explained their lack of urgency to call the AC worker. After I was all settled in, I contacted the local AC repairs and maintenance business. I booked for an AC worker to come and check the issue with the AC method the following afternoon. The lady’s truck pulled up at the farm at the agreed time, and I showed her where the cooling method was set up. The issue was the ancient and worn-out control unit. Though Grandpa enjoyed its vintage look, it was too ancient to run the new cooling method officially. The AC worker changed the control component with a smart unit. Both our Grandparents had smartphones and some apps that they ran for different things. So, having a smart control component was right up their alley. Grandma was so excited with the smart control component app that she could use to adjust the temperature settings from anywhere.
