I have to say that I’m pretty pleased to have a child who is actively working to lessen the financial burden on me.
I’ve been preparing for our children’s college since they were born.
I know all about student loans as that’s what got me through four years of college. It was so tight for me that I had to live in the dorm for four years. That meant four straight Winters where the radiant heating from the boiler in the basement nearly stewed me in my room. That radiant heating was so intense but I wasn’t willing to borrow any more money. With the way it’s going for my eldest son, we may be able to afford to have him live off campus in central air conditioning. That’s because he is well on his way to getting a full ride to the school of his choice. But for that to happen, he has to finish strong during this crucial year. And so, my son and I went about finding a great space at home where he could have privacy and quiet to study in peace. But I had to get some help from the HVAC professionals to make this happen. We had the HVAC technician come out to install a ductless heat pump inside our finished attic. I’m still clueless as to why that attic was finished off but I’m sure glad it was. With the ductless heat pump, my son can now enjoy good air conditioning all Spring as he continues to do all he needs to do to nail down those scholarships.
