That’s because I’ve always been all over the thermostat setting.
I called to have the air conditioning tune up done early this Spring. Where I live, the pollen starts showing up on the car about the end of February. While my neighbors to the north are still shoveling snow and the gas furnace is cranking, we are starting Spring. I always get the HVAC maintenance done each Spring to ensure that the heat pump is ready to handle the big load of air conditioning that comes with Summer. But we don’t really go right for the cooling when the temperatures near 80 like many folks in the community. It’s mid April and there is now a chorus of heat pumps singing during the peak heating hours of the day. But by and large, we still keep the windows and doors open. Yet once the calendar flips to May, it’s all about air conditioning for the next four or five months. And this year, I had a bit of a surprise for my family when it came to managing that air conditioning. When the HVAC technician came out to do the air conditioning tune up, he also installed a smart thermostat. For sure, I wanted the latest in this HVAC technology to save us money. But I had an ulterior motive as well. My family was surprised by this HVAC technology addition to our home. That’s because I’ve always been all over the thermostat setting. But now, we are going to lock out manually adjusting the thermostat and let the HVAC technology take over. I think there has been plenty of jerking the thermostat around when I wasn’t watching. So surprise because that’s over.
