HVAC upgrade time was the tipping point

My wife and I have been so on the fence when it came to whether or not we were going to take advantage of the real estate market.

We love our house and the central air conditioning and the property and all of it.

But there are some realities that made maybe selling the place a good idea. Chief among those realities was the white hot real estate market. A couple of years ago, the real estate values just skyrocketed much as they did in other parts of the country. But it’s never cooled off here and so my wife and I had been going back and forth on whether or not to sell. The other reality is that we are getting to the point where we realized that it was just too much house. The kids are all grown and we’re even new grandparents. Retirement is still years away but the house was getting tougher to keep up. Just the heating and cooling costs were ridiculous for just two people. Still, we wavered because we knew that this was going to be a big undertaking. Thankfully, it was the HVAC technician who settled it for us. Last Fall, the HVAC technician came out to do the heating maintenance like he always does. But this time, he told us our time was up on the old heat pump. We got nearly 30 years out of that old heat pump. This ended up being the tipping point for our decision on selling the house. We upgraded the HVAC equipment along with other renovations to our home. And we just listed it last week. Already, there have been offers but the realtor says those are just the beginning and this house is going to sell for a pile of money.
