When my family and I were planning a little get together picnic, my kids said we should rent a venue to enjoy our food.
I told them that was no way to have a picnic, you had to be outside in the great outdoors and have fresh air! The sunshine was good for you and who ever heard of having a picnic indoors? Well, when we finally went for our picnic, it was a scorching hot day and there was no A/C to speak of outside of course.
It was so hot that nobody really wanted to eat much food, we were just drinking a bunch of drinks. We had coolers, but the ice melted relatively fast since it was so blazing hot. One of my kids ended up going to the store and picked up a few outdoor A/C units. These things were pretty interesting, you just added water and they would do their thing when you turned them on. It was nothing like regular air conditioning but it was a lot better than having nothing! We all were swarming around the portable A/C units and were actually thinking about picking up a few more so we could actually enjoy the rest of our picnic. The next time we plan this kind of thing, I think I will follow my children’s’ advice and just rent a venue that actually has climate control. It really is tough to enjoy the experience when it’s way too overheated outside. I don’t know if global warming is to blame or what, but it seems like it’s so much hotter outdoors than it was when I was a young kid.
