Mini split air conditioner saved us from heat stroke in the food truck

I was buying HVAC equipment for my new home when I remembered some years back when I worked in a food truck, and it got so unbearably hot we had to petition the owner to buy an air conditioner to help with indoor comfort.

It was hard getting enough cooling from the open windows, and the busy hours were so hectic I was afraid we’d faint and leave our customers waiting.

We tried a mini fan, but it didn’t help much, and the truck owner finally realized he’d need a quality air conditioner, or we’d all resign from our jobs. He bought a mini split air conditioner from the local cooling corporation and self-installed it because he couldn’t afford to pay a cooling specialist for the installation. However, he didn’t know how to secure the outer part of it because it looked like it would fall off or get stolen. We got tasked with learning more about air conditioning and how to secure the a/c; otherwise, if it got any damages, it would be a long while before we could afford air conditioning repair because he had used so much money buying the equipment already. We asked around and even on social media, and the uniform reply was that we needed to hire a cooling tech which was tricky because our boss seemed to want nothing to do with the cooling industry experts. We decided to call a meeting and make a presentation on why hiring a cooling representative would be the best option, including a highlight about learning the basics of air conditioning maintenance. Our boss finally agreed to hire an expert, but we were relieved to get a comfortable working space.
