Mom is going crazy

Sometimes I think that my mom is going crazy.

Ever since my mom turned 70, she has displayed some erratic behavior.

At first, we thought she was adjusting to retirement. Now we are worried that Mom can’t be left alone. Last week, mom disappeared into town all day. My brother called her on the cell phone seven or eight times, and she didn’t answer. Her voice mailbox was full, so we couldn’t even leave a message. When my mom finally appeared later at home, everyone was distraught and worried. My mom didn’t see the trouble, and she thought we were being ridiculous. Yesterday, my wife and I stopped to see my mom after church. We took the boys and planned to take Mom for a nice Sunday lunch. When we arrived in the afternoon, mom was still in her pajamas. She was covered in dirt and dust. Mom explained that she spent most of the morning trying to fix the furnace. My mom said the furnace wasn’t heating, but she didn’t want to call a professional. I offered to look at the furnace. I walked down the basement stairs and I noticed that the furnace was off. I told my mom to turn on the furnace, so I could listen for any noises. My mom refused to turn on the furnace, because she was scared. It took three hours to calm my mom down, and 15 minutes for me to realize that the thermostat was the problem all along. It might be time for my mom to sell the house and move in with my wife and I.
