I certainly was not expecting my mother to die at the age of 72.
My mother was healthy for the most part.
Mom walked every morning outside plus never smoked a cigarette in her life. She didn’t even eat meat or foods that were high in sugar. Honestly, no person ever thought Mom would have a heart attack plus die in her sleep, but our entire family was devastated by the loss. It was blatant that my Mom was not expecting death either, because she did not have an estate planner or a lawyer. In fact, mom didn’t have a will at all. My sister and I had a lot of trouble settling everything with the estate. It took us around 20 weeks before they released the life insurance; During that time, my sister and I had a lot of affairs to settle for our Mom. Both of us had to retain an estate lawyer to help with some of the papers, documentation and all things legal wise. I was happy though I had a friend that knew an estate lawyer from school. The estate lawyer talked to my sister and I about our own plans for the future plus our house, cars, plus stocks. My sister and I didn’t have a solid idea either, plus the lawyer helped us prepare all of the documents. The estate lawyer handled each thing plus explained each part of the process with my sister plus I. If something happens to her or I, both of us won’t have to worry about our estate, inheritance, or any other kind of paperwork.
